LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Zac Efron, star of the "High School Musical" hit teen franchise, was recovering on Wednesday from emergency surgery to remove his appendix, his publicist said.
Efron was taken to hospital in Los Angeles the day after Disney announced it was bringing the money-spinning franchise to the big screen for the first time in "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" which begins production in the spring.
Efrons publicist Gina Hoffman said the tween heartthrob
had his appendix removed on Tuesday and was recuperating.
Efron, 20, will join Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and other stars of the first two made-for-television "High School" movies which proved mega-hits for the Disney Channel over the last two years.
