FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Business software maker SAP aims to win about 1,000 customers for its new Web-delivered software aimed at smaller companies by the end of 2008, according to slides due to be presented on Wednesday.
Chief Executive Henning Kagermann was due to tell a news conference the German company had more than 150 customers -- some paying and some trialing the so-called Business ByDesign software -- at the end of 2007, according to the presentation.
The German software maker is betting on Business ByDesign to help it extend its customer base further to smaller companies who prefer to pay by subscription and have SAP host the system.
Earlier, SAP gave a conservative outlook for 2008 seen as positive in an uncertain economic environment by the market.
